Or blame it on the asshole who lives above me and thinks that leaving his window open in January is a good idea.
If you’ve seen my recent Tweets or Tumblr posts, you’ll know that my Wednesday got a bit exciting. First major home disaster ftw! Around about 4:30 yesterday my building called me at work. Pipe burst in the unit above yours, flooding, water in the hall, do we have your permission to access your unit. You betcha. The funny thing is, I didn’t freak out, didn’t start crying, informed my co-workers of what was going on, and proceeded to finish working on the task I was working on. For the first time in my life I’m calm in the face of disaster. Or in shock. It’s possible I’m in shock because I’ve been way too fucking zen about the whole thing, from finishing work to going home and meeting my next door neighbor who helped me mop up the worst of the flooding to just plain dealing with it. I honestly think I’m in a better mood than normal even. The true test is going to be dealing with the insurance company and all the fun repairs that will need to be done. Hopefully I’ll keep on keeping on like I’ve been…and breakdown well after everything’s all right again. The cat’s fine, my computer’s fine, and no water got near my bed or bedroom. If anywhere in my place is going to be rendered unusable, the kitchen is really the ideal place.
Fun times, yo, fun times.
Besides my rug, flooring, kitchen island and ceiling, my awesome knee high boots are the only major victim. All things considered, I’m okay. For now. 🙂
